Even Language and Culture
DVD series. Videos by Erich Kasten.
Volumes of this archive are available at local libraries in Kamchatka.
Beyond cultural practices and other activities (KPN
/ ELC 5.2 / 6, see below) this database focuses on texts in Even. The so
far collected data refer mostly to the linguistic variety that is spoken
in the Bystrinski district in Central Kamchatka and amount (at the moment)
to about 28 hrs. The texts are expected to be fully edited by 2007.
The given database shall serve, first of all, the purpose to preserve and
to stimulate the further enhancement of the native people's cultural heritage
in Kamchatka (see Kasten
2004, Kasten
2005). Thus, the material can be used within the local communities – among
others – as electronic learning tools in combination with its later
print editions.
